Session description: This interactive webinar will cover many of the major advocacy contributions over the past 50 years in our state. We will address how advocacy contributed to key changes in education, employment, supported living, as well as a perspective for the future. The presentation and panel will be led by Dr. Harold Kleinert, UK Human Development Institute (HDI) Director Emeritus and Bev Harp, HDI Director of Innovative Supports for Autistic Workers; Bev and Harold are also KY Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities faculty.

How Educators Can Help Students with Intellectual Disability to Think College

Students with intellectual disability want to go to college – and they can! But they can’t get there alone. They need educators who understand what skills are necessary to make it happen and will support them to achieve their goals. Think College created the “Think Higher. Think College.” public awareness campaign to inform and educate teachers, school administrators, support professionals, college staff and faculty, families, and students themselves that college is an option for students with intellectual disability.

Open Studio

The UK School of Art will throw its doors open Dec 1st for the return of Open Studio. A Free public event which gives Lexington the opportunity to visit art studios, buy one-of-a-kind gifts and celebrate the holidays. The art studios of undergrad and graduate students will be open to the public for this rare opportunity and our art gallery will be housing our annual Carey Ellis Juried Student Show.
