What is Research Communications?
We are a communications support office reporting jointly to the Chief Communications Officer in Public Relations & Strategic Communications and the Office of the Vice President for Research.
Our charge is to enhance the UK research enterprise by communicating the impact of research across all UK colleges and research centers/institutes to general audiences and support the communication efforts of units under the Vice President for Research that serve investigators, staff, postdocs & students conducting research at UK.

We produce and maintain top-level sites for the Office of the Vice President, Research Support Units and Core Facilities. See Research site.

- There are three different versions of the UK Research PowerPoint template. Choose the color scheme that works best for you from SharePoint. Do not edit the SharePoint file. Edit the file you download.
- You can edit these templates by going to View/Slide Master, click on the top slide in the left-hand column and edit the unit name and date as needed.

You can download UK logo PowerPoint templates from UK Public Relations and Marketing's Brand Downloads. You will need to log in with your linkblue id.
Newsletters & Emails
- We produce Impact Kentucky, Research's internal monthly newsletter. To suggest content, contact Alicia Gregory.
- We produce Research Events, a weekly email from the Office of the Vice President for Research.
- All events submitted to our online Research calendar will be included in the Research Events email
- You can submit any research-related event, open to all audiences with cross-college and community-wide appeal, via our Qualtrics form.
- We produce targeted emails from the Office of the Vice President for Research. To request an email topic, contact Alicia Gregory.
Digital Signage
- Research Communications curates content shared on the video wall in the atrium and all other public screens in the Healthy Kentucky Research Building (HKRB).
- You can submit events for signage to Research Communications via our Qualtrics form.
- We updated that content weekly on Wednesdays.
- Please give us at least 7 business days notice to add events to signage rotation.
Participant Recruitment Advertising
We review all advertising to recruit participants for research studies going through UK Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval. Learn more, with Dos and Don'ts and FAQs, here.

Generative AI Use in Research | UK ADVANCE Recommendations
The public release of generative artificial intelligence (generative AI) tools represents a significant moment for the University of Kentucky’s research and scholarly enterprise. Since late 2022, the capabilities of generative AI have proliferated and advanced at a rapid pace. Machine learning and artificial intelligence are established methods for use in research, but generative AI is novel in that it produces content—text, code, image, sound, video—based on user input and dialogue and presents additional questions.
