Leadership in our Backyard: The History and Power of Advocacy in our State
Session description: This interactive webinar will cover many of the major advocacy contributions over the past 50 years in our state. We will address how advocacy contributed to key changes in education, employment, supported living, as well as a perspective for the future. The presentation and panel will be led by Dr. Harold Kleinert, UK Human Development Institute (HDI) Director Emeritus and Bev Harp, HDI Director of Innovative Supports for Autistic Workers; Bev and Harold are also KY Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities faculty. Objectives: • Increase our collective understanding of advocacy in Kentucky. • Increase our knowledge of key advocates in our state and their contributions to the lives of people with disabilities. • Identify effective strategies that KY advocates have used to effect change. CRC credits are approved. CRC credits in Rehabilitation Counseling are in conjunction with the Kentucky Office of Vocational Rehabilitation. School Psychologists may receive up to 2 CPD clock hours.
