Group working with UK researchers to meaningfully involve people who use drugs

A group of University of Kentucky researchers in the Substance Use Priority Research Area (SUPRA) is working to make studies more responsive and inclusive. The group formed a community advisory board, called the Survivors Union of the Bluegrass (SUB), including those who identify as people who use drugs and/or people in non-abstinence-based recovery.

CMS data now available in N3C

Through a generous grant from Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) OS-Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Trust Fund, the National COVID Cohort Collaborative (N3C) is pleased to announce the inclusion of de-identified linked CMS Medicare data to the existing 19 billion rows of mortality, viral variant and clinical data in the Enclave. The addition of CMS Medicare data is an exponential leap in the scientific potential of N3C.

For UK Physician Mary Sheppard, Treating Rare Disease Is Personal

At age 5, Mary Sheppard, M.D., was diagnosed with Marfan syndrome, a rare connective tissue disorder affecting the heart, eyes, blood vessels and skeleton. Now a physician-scientist at UK, Sheppard studies and treats this rare disease and takes pride in giving back to the community.
