Kentucky is the only state currently growing substantial quantities of Artemisia annua, meaning the Commonwealth could become a new epicenter for growing the plant worldwide. The plant’s growth could potentially give Kentucky’s farmers a new cash crop to supplement income. 

3 Wildcats Awarded 2021-22 Goldwater Scholarship

This year's Goldwater Scholars were selected from a field of 1,256 math, science and engineering students who were nominated by the faculties of 438 of the nation's colleges and universities. The program fosters and encourages outstanding students pursuing careers in mathematics, the natural sciences and engineering.

UK's Margaret Mohr-Schroeder Elected President of the School Science and Mathematics Association

Mohr-Schroeder is a professor of STEM Education and Associate Dean for Clinical Preparation and Partnerships at the University of Kentucky College of Education. Her term as President will begin in 2022.

Goldstein Elected to American Academy of Neurology Board of Directors

Goldstein also is co-director of the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute, co-director of the UK Neuroscience Research Priority Area and interim director of the UK-Norton Healthcare Stroke Care Network. Goldstein’s two-year term on the board of directors begins later this month.
