The Democratization of Investment Research
Dr. Russell Jame is the Ashland Oil Associate Professor of Finance and the Director of Graduate Studies for the PhD in Finance in the Gatton College. His research focuses on the investment research of professional (sell-side) analysts who provide investment analysis to institutional clients and non-professional analysts who broadly disseminate their research on social media platforms. His research has been published in top finance and accounting journals, including the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, and The Accounting Review. His research has also been cited frequently in the popular press including the Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg. He has a PhD in Finance from Emory University, and a BS in Business Administration, summa cum laude, from Georgetown University. Prior to joining the Gatton College of Business, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of New South Wales, in Sydney Australia.
From Innovative Marketplace to Societal Concerns: Understanding the Impact of System Dynamics
Dr. Yunke Mai is an Assistant Professor and Clark Materials Fellow in Marketing and Supply Chain at the Gatton College of Business and Economics. Yunke’s research mainly focuses on the long-run system dynamics and strategic considerations in complex managerial problems related to innovative marketplace and societal concerns. His work has been published in Management Science and Production and Operations Management and recognized with the 2023 Junior Faculty Research Excellence Award at the Gatton College and 2018 INFORMS IBM Award for Service Science. Prior to joining Gatton, Yunke received his PhD from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University in 2019.
Regulators at the Gate
Will Gerken is the Real Estate Endowed Professor of Finance at the Gatton College of Business and Economics. His research focuses on financial advisors, financial misconduct, and governance. He has published his research in leading finance journals such as: Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis and Review of Finance. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Corporate Finance. His research has won best paper awards at leading international conferences. His research has also been featured in the international media such as the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, and NPR and cited by industry regulatory bodies such as FINRA and the Securities Exchange Commission. He has a PhD in Finance from Michigan State University, MS and MBA degrees from Georgia Tech, and BS degrees from West Virginia University. He is a CFA charterholder and serves as the principal contact for the CFA Institute University Affiliation Programs. He also advises the Real Estate Club and Investing Club. Prior to joining the Gatton College of Business, he was an Assistant Professor at Auburn University.
