Causal inference methods provide an exciting framework through which observational data can be used to estimate causal effects. In this talk, we will introduce the foundational concepts of the potential outcomes framework and the “road map” for applying these methods to address causal questions in health research.

Presenter:

Erin Abner, PhD, MPH

Dr. Abner the Co-Leader of the Data Management and Statistics Core of the University of Kentucky Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging. Dr. Abner is a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health in the College of Public Health, where she teaches causal inference and other research methods in epidemiology and biostatistics to graduate students. Her own research focuses understanding how comorbid medical conditions affect cognitive trajectories and neuropathological outcomes in late life.
