Microscopy Maintenance Specialist
The Microscopy Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the oversight of scanning, transmission, low vacuum, scanning field emission electron microscopes and quantitative/qualitative energy, dispersive x-ray analysis systems, as well as data and Digital Imaging Acquisition Systems and Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy. The position coordinates instrument relocations and evaluates and researches new/advanced technologies and instrumentations for faculty. Duties also include training and counseling faculty and technical staff, updating and implementing operating procedures, protocol and safety policies for all microscopy/Energy Dispersive x-ray Spectroscopy (EOS) facilities on campus. The position is also responsible for purchasing and organizing backup inventory for EM facilities instrumentation and forecasting anticipated expenditures related to microscopy and associated equipment.
