Sylvie Garneau-Tsodikova, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, will be featured on the CBS show "Mission Unstoppable" this Saturday morning. The episode airing this weekend is titled "Electricity, Engineering, and E-Games."

The CBS show features female STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) superstars, during their Saturday morning block “The CBS Dream Team, It’s Epic!” Each week, host and Executive Producer Miranda Cosgrove ("iCarly") and an all-female leadership team showcase women on the cutting edge of science — including zoologists, engineers, astronauts, codebreakers and oceanographers.

On this Saturday’s episode, Garneau-Tsodikova will show how fungi are used to discover novel antibiotics. She is a leader in the field of pharmaceutics and infectious disease research, having authored or co-authored more than 150 publications, and has long been a champion of STEM education in our community. In 2014, she created SciCats, a program designed to spark an interest in science in local elementary, middle and high school students. Garneau-Tsodikova has reached out to more than 200 students to foster their interest in science. Several of her high school students have gone on to publish the results of their research study and have earned national awards.

You can watch Garneau-Tsodikova on "Mission Unstoppable" 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, on CBS.
