UK-CARES was well represented at the 64th Annual Society of Toxicology (SOT) Meeting & ToxExpo in Orlando, Florida this March. UK-CARES Deputy Director, Hollie Swanson, along with Cetaway Rashid and Pat Hannon.  The event linked students, professors, mentees, mentors, colleagues, industry leaders, and representatives from pharmaceutical and business sectors across the globe, with the shared commitment of advancing toxicological sciences.

Congratulations to UK grad students who presented their research:

  • Sunny Ghuneim (SOT Graduate Student Travel Award and Arab Toxicologists Associate Best Abstract Award)
  • Brittany Williams (3rd place winner from Reproductive and Development Toxicology Specialty Section)
  • Katie Land
  • Kelly Oriakhi, postdoc
  • Krystal Sewell

All five represented UK with their outstanding abstracts and exceptional research presentations, showcasing the remarkable talent and dedication within the UK student community.

The Society of Toxicology encompasses a broad range of scientific research, including environmental and regulatory toxicology, pharmaceutical, forensic, genomics, computational, and ecological toxicology, as well as other equally vital fields. Scientists in the field are not only integrating the latest breakthroughs in science and technology but also creating new innovations that push the boundaries of what’s possible. This breadth of toxicological research is driving advancements across scientific fields, ensuring a far-reaching impact on human and animal health, plant life, ecosystems, and the overall sustainability of all living systems.
