Ten students and five alumni were selected to receive government-funded National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowships. In addition, one graduate student and one alumna received honorable mention recognition from the NSF.
This year’s Showcase of Undergraduate Scholars is from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, in the Gatton Student Center Grand Ballroom, and features 500 students and 330 presentations representing 66 disciplines and 18 colleges.
Two undergraduates have been selected as recipients of the University of Kentucky’s Beckman Scholars Program, titled Scholars United by Chemistry: Cultivating Excellence through Science Stewardship (SUCCESS).
In the Embedded: Advanced Scuba Certification and Coral Reef Ecology course, students have the opportunity to earn numerous scuba certifications, while learning about the impact of environmental stress on coral reef ecosystems.
Organized by the UK Office of Undergraduate Research, the program is a leadership opportunity for undergraduates who are passionate about promoting undergraduate research at UK and helping other undergraduates find their path.
