Thorson has 189 publications with over 11,000 citations, is an inventor on 27 patents and was most recently recognized for his role in securing the prestigious Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) grant.
Any full-time UK undergraduate student of any major who has completed at least one semester of research with a faculty mentor is eligible to apply for a Summer Research Fellowship.
Under the enhanced UKAccel, the Launch Blue team will provide professional development and experiential learning to UK innovators who are interested in learning the best commercialization path for their technology.
Haupt is one of 35 recipients of the 2020 fellowship, selected from a pool of 429 applicants. He will receive $27,500 for a period of up to two years to complete his dissertation and attend professional development.
The program is for those who don’t receive a match to receive mentorship and experience to improve their resumé. UK’s program is one year, which gives fellows the time to reapply for residency programs by the next Match Day.
The purpose of the University Research Professorship program is to recognize and publicize research accomplishments of scholars across the full range of disciplines at UK.
