Molly Blasing University of Kentucky
Dr. Molly T. Blasing is Associate Professor of Russian Studies in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, Literatures and Cultures in the College of Arts and Sciences at UK. She specializes in Russian language, literature and culture. She is author of Snapshots of the Soul: Photo-Poetic Encounters in Modern Russian Culture (Cornell UP, 2021) as well as numerous articles on Russian poetry, contemporary theatre, and language pedagogy. In addition to her work as a literary scholar, she is leading a transdisciplinary research and teaching initiative to bring STEM topics into the World Language curriculum. At the University of Kentucky, she teaches “Russian Topics in Climate, Energy and Sustainability,” a course in which Russian language learners develop content knowledge and language proficiency through engagement with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and discussions of issues such as climate change, the global energy transition, Arctic geopolitics, security studies, and global health.
