Analytical Core
The major function of the Analytical Chemistry Core for Environmental ScienceS (ACCESS) is to provide support for chemical analysis of environmental and biological samples for toxicants, biomarkers of effect, and other analytes related to environmental health science research. Support includes advice on selection of analytical methods, sample collection, preservation and storage techniques, and advice on quality assessment and quality control. The core also provides analysis of trace-elements, including trace-element speciation and atomic imaging and spectroscopy as well as analysis of major anions and cations and volatile organic compounds through the Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology Laboratory (ECTL) at UK. For other analyses, such as for small molecules, ACCESS provides vouchers for provision of analyses at the UK Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry Core Facility or at other analytical laboratories.
