Training FAQs
I am not sure what Phase I fall under. How do I find this out and what training I should attend?
You can find this information on the Project GATeWAY website. (Look for the Hub graphic that indicates which Phase your unit is in.)
Will the trainings be recorded?
Yes, the training sessions will be recorded and posted to this webpage.
There are multiple training sessions. Will I need to attend more than one training session?
No, you are only required to attend one of the training sessions.

I am a CGS staff member, is the training mandatory?
Yes, for the CGS to be fully informed of new processes and be sure any concerns or questions are addressed right away, training is mandatory. If a CGS staff member cannot participate “live” in one of the Zoom sessions, they will be expected to view the recording within a specified time period and confirm with their supervisor they have done so.
I am an investigator, BO/DA, or OSPA/RFS staff, is the training mandatory?
While the training is not mandatory, it will support you and the CGS staff in a successful transition of how research services are delivered at the University.
How is the training structured?
The training structure depends on which session you attend. Generally, they range from 1-2 hours and will be conducted over Zoom
What are the expected outcomes of the training?
(1) Understand the functions of each research administration unit, the division of responsibilities between them, and how they work together to provide research administration services.
(2) Learn about the structure and governance of Collaborative Grant Services (CGS), including operational and escalation procedures
(3) Understand your role and responsibilities as relevant party with the new structure, pre- and post-award delineation, and research administration processes
(4) Gain insight into how to conduct work under the new research administration processes, including learning about how and why work has changed
